We Would Pick The Same Company

“There was extensive work involved with the selection of this system and if we had to do it all over again, we’d pick the same company and the same system.”

Marriot Armoury Square Downtown Syracuse
Multi-Million-Dollar Marriott Brings Sophisticated Fire Protection to Downtown Syracuse

Marriott’s new hotel in Syracuse, N.Y., combines two of the company’s recognized names – Courtyard and Residence Inn. The new hospitality project is the largest non-office entity built in the city in more than 25 years, and sophisticated fire protection is an integral part of its construction. Located in the heart of Armory Square in downtown Syracuse, the two hotel brands have separate entrances and registration desks, but share amenities such as meeting and pool facilities. The $27 million facility, appropriately named Marriott Armory Square, is a seven-story high-rise comprising 180 rooms, all just steps away from restaurants, shops and the popular arts and entertainment district.

Van Duyn Hospital
Fire Alarm Transplant Gives Van Duyn Hospital an Emergency Communications Upgrade

Thirty years ago, Onondaga County in upstate New York, opened the Van Duyn Home & Hospital (VDHH) Residential Health Care Facility. As the only county-run nursing home in Onondaga County, its seven floors and 513 beds offer much-needed care for residents of Syracuse and the surrounding areas. The facility’s property includes one main building, where all residents live, and two small outbuildings for auxiliary services. Kelly Neish, director of hospital safety and security, has the critical task of preparing the facility and staff for possible emergencies, such as fires. The residents of VDHH have varying degrees of physical incapacity. Moreover, the home offers special care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Seneca Hill
Providing Peace of Mind at The Manor at Seneca Hill

Syracuse Time & Alarm Co., Inc. recently installed a Resident Wandering System at The Manor at Seneca Hill in Oswego, NY. Upon admission, each wanderer is now given a state-of-the-art Positioning Tag that can be worn like a wrist watch. This allows the resident free movement within the allowed detection zones. Now, when a wanderer tries to leave an exit door or elevator, it will set off an alarm triggering existing maglocks to lock down. This prevents the resident from mistakenly wandering out of the building. The system will then generate a complete history report of the event. The staff now has an easier time locating the residents that are a threat to wander or leave the facility.
