Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Security & Access Control IT/AV/Pro Sound Technician to install, integrate, and maintain cutting-edge security, access control, IT, audio/video, and pro sound systems for commercial and residential clients. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and a customer-focused approach to deliver exceptional solutions that ensure safety, connectivity, and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Installation & Integration:

• Install, program, and configure advanced security and access control systems, including Genetec, Galaxy, card readers, keypads, intercoms, and CCTV systems.
• Set up and configure structured cabling, A/V components, and low-voltage systems.
• Install and manage video conferencing equipment, lighting control systems (e.g., Lutron), motorized window treatments, and automation systems (e.g., Crestron, Savant, Control4).
• Configure HD video distribution systems, DVR/NVR systems, and digital/analog cameras.
• Implement soundproofing, acoustical treatments, sound masking systems, and telephony components.

Operations & Supervision:

• Manage project teams, ensuring efficient and high-quality work through effective leadership and quality control.
• Collaborate with project managers to maintain clear communication, resolve installation challenges, and ensure client satisfaction.
• Lead and mentor junior technicians, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Technical Expertise:

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to security, IT, AV, and pro sound systems.
• Operate and integrate Apple and Windows-based systems, as well as trade and office suite software.
• Read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Utilize testing equipment, meters, and industry-standard tools while adhering to safety protocols.

Client Engagement & Support:

• Provide professional and client-focused service, ensuring clear communication about system functionality and maintenance needs.
• Tailor solutions to meet specific client requirements and provide guidance on upgrades and enhancements.

Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety protocols.
• Maintain detailed records of installations, services, and repairs.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in security, access control, IT, AV integration, and pro sound systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Genetec, Galaxy, Honeywell, Lenel, Crestron, Extron, and similar platforms.
• Industry certifications such as CEDIA, InfoComm, NICET, ESA, or BICSI preferred.
• Security and alarm license or installation license preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift items weighing at least 50 pounds.
