Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems Inspector

Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems Inspector to ensure the safety and compliance of fire alarm and life safety systems across commercial and residential properties. This critical role involves inspecting, testing, and documenting the functionality of systems to meet industry standards and local fire codes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspection & Testing:
- Perform detailed inspections and testing of fire alarm systems, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and other life safety systems in compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and local fire codes.
- Conduct functional testing of control panels, detectors, pull stations, and other system components to ensure proper operation.
- Identify and document system deficiencies or failures, recommending corrective actions to clients and management.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all inspections meet regulatory requirements and company quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of inspections, testing results, and corrective actions taken.
- Provide clients with detailed inspection reports, explaining findings and recommended improvements.
Client Communication & Support:
- Communicate professionally with clients to schedule inspections, explain procedures, and provide updates on system performance.
- Offer guidance on compliance requirements and system upgrades to enhance life safety measures.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Identify potential issues during inspections and perform basic troubleshooting to address them on-site.
- Coordinate with service technicians to resolve complex issues or schedule follow-up maintenance.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with technicians, contractors, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of inspections within broader service operations.
- Provide feedback and insights to the team for continuous improvement in inspection processes and system reliability.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in fire alarm or life safety system inspections or related field.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinklers, and emergency lighting systems is required.
- NICET Level I or II certification in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards and local fire codes is essential.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deficiencies in life safety systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational skills for accurate documentation and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

SCHEDULE
- Full-time position with regular business hours, Monday to Friday.
- Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required based on project demands.
WORK LOCATION
- In-person role based in Syracuse, NY, with local travel required.
