Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking a skilled IT/AV/Pro Sound Technician with extensive experience in Audio/Video Integration, Security, Network Cabling, and Commissioning for both commercial and residential projects. The ideal candidate is extremely dependable, eager to learn, and works well with others. This role requires expertise in installing a wide range of systems and components, as well as managing teams and projects effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation & Integration:
- Install and configure structured cabling, advanced cabling technologies, A/V components, and low voltage systems.
- Set up racking systems, projectors, automated screens, and video displays.
- Install and manage video conferencing equipment, applications, and functionality.
- Install and configure hard-wired and wireless networks, including associated components (Networking/IT).
- Work with lighting control systems (e.g., Lutron), motorized window treatments, and automation control systems (Crestron, Savant, Control4).
- Set up HD video distribution systems, security systems, access control systems, cameras (digital and analog), and DVR/NVR configurations.
- Implement soundproofing, acoustical treatments, sound masking systems, telephony components, intercom, and digital signage.
- Operations & Supervision:
- Manage teams, project management, procurement, AV solutions, troubleshoot/service calls, and ensure quality control.
- Lead and direct Jr. Technicians as needed, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and superiors, and maintain clear and concise project documentation.
- Technical Expertise:
- Troubleshoot complex audio and video equipment.
- Operate Apple and Windows-based computers, along with trade and office suite software programs.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and industry-standard documents.
- Use meters, testing equipment, and industry-standard power tools, ensuring safety and precision.
- Uphold safety procedures in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Customer Service:
- Maintain a professional appearance, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Communicate clearly and interact with clients in a professional, customer service-oriented manner.
- Additional Requirements:
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Be physically capable of climbing ladders, scaffolding, working at heights, and carrying items of at least 50+ pounds.
- Be available to work outside of regularly scheduled hours on occasion.
Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Low Voltage Installation and AV Integration & Solutions.
- Experience as an AV Technician (7 years required) with a focus on Crestron/Extron/RTI (5 years preferred) and Commissioning (3 years required).
- Familiarity with resolving installation problems and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Security and alarm license preferred, along with industry certifications (CEDIA, InfoComm, BICSI, CE Pro, etc.).
- Security Installation License is a plus.

- Full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
